Dejavu: Starting All Over Again

The movie Dejavu starring Denzel Washington is the portrayal of a man that traveled back in time to save the life of someone he had come to love, an innocent victim of a man who plotted to blow up a ferry that had soldiers and their families on it. The scheme had been carried out just as the man had planned, but the good guys had discovered a way to travel back in time and change the sequence of events that led to the tragedy. Just think what our world would be like if we all thought of ways to preserve life rather than to take it.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Philippi and said, “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if [you have] any comfort from his love, if [you have] any common sharing in the Spirit, if [you have experienced] any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind” (2:1-2). Many in our world have not heard of or believed in the person of Christ; therefore, it is difficult for this sameness to take place. However, it is not impossible. Those of us who profess to belong to the Lord Jesus Christ have the precious treasure of God’s loving message in us. This love is far too great and gracious for us to keep to ourselves. We need to share the good news of God’s unfailing love by living it on a daily basis. Let us join our hearts and minds together and stop all the hating and submit humbly to the image of Jesus who humbled himself to death and experienced the power of resurrection rooted in the love of God for all of us, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could return to the innocence that existed before the first man rebelled against God? We can return and do return as we submit to the Lordship of the Christ.
